It is incredibly difficult for us to express in words or letters from our physical world what we understand about the higher, spiritual world. Our language is specifically designed to communicate about things in this material world, not in the spiritual realm.<\/p>\n

As we live and explore our world, we need to remember what we experience and pass that information on to others. This need to share our experiences led to the development of language. In the early stages of human life, when people lived in simpler, more primitive conditions, their language was also simple. As people expanded their understanding of nature and the world, they needed words for more abstract concepts, complex feelings and thoughts. But all these words, ideas and feelings are based on our physical sensations and experiences.<\/p>\n

The same challenge exists when trying to describe the spiritual world. In the spiritual realm one can feel things, but describing those feelings using sounds or symbols may not fully convey the experience. Even if I hear or see certain signs, without the right context, they may mean nothing to me.<\/p>\n

This becomes especially important when it comes to the transmission of accurate knowledge, as is often required in Kabbalistic studies. Kabbalah involves the discussion of abstract concepts, complex interactions between forces and spiritual thoughts. Kabbalists must therefore use precise definitions to ensure accurate understanding, similar to the way scientific analysis requires precise terminology.<\/p>\n

Communication through spiritual knowledge<\/strong><\/h3>\n

How can Kabbalists who perceive spiritual realities convey these experiences to those of us who cannot? Imagine standing next to a Kabbalist who senses things that you do not - images, forces and phenomena that interact in the spiritual world. How can they describe these higher events to you, especially when they are happening on a level we cannot yet perceive? This is a significant challenge. Furthermore, how do Kabbalists communicate with each other? If one person feels one thing and another feels something different, do they use a special language to talk about these spiritual experiences? The answers lie in the principle of roots and branches.<\/p>\n

The Law of Roots and Branches in Worlds<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Kabbalah teaches that the spiritual world consists of four main levels or \"worlds\": Acyluth, Bria, Yetzirah, and Asiyah. Each of these worlds is part of a unique structure, beginning with the highest level, Acyluth, and ending with our material world, Asiyah. Let's break each one down:<\/p>\n

Acylut<\/strong>A: The highest spiritual world, closest to the Creator. It represents pure, selfless energy and light.
\nBria<\/strong>: The world of creation, where the original separation between Creator and creation is becoming more and more noticeable.
\nYetzira<\/strong>A: The world of formation, where things begin to take shape and concepts of good and evil begin to evolve.
\nAsia<\/strong>A: The world of action, which includes our physical world. It is the lowest and densest where spiritual energy is most difficult to perceive.<\/p>\n

Each lower world is like a reflection of the higher world above it. And so what exists in Acylut is imprinted in Bria and so on up to Asiya. These worlds are like layers, and as one ascends spiritually, one passes through these layers, gaining deeper insight into spiritual reality.<\/p>\n

The parallel structure of worlds<\/strong><\/h3>\n

As one grows spiritually, one begins to perceive higher layers of reality beyond the physical world. It is like climbing steps, each step representing a deeper understanding of the Higher World. The sensations at each level become more subtle and the connections between spiritual forces become clearer. But the overall structure feels familiar.<\/p>\n

In the beginning, one can feel the world in a certain way. Then, as he progresses, he feels it in a broader and deeper way, revealing more layers of meaning. The higher world and the Creator do not change. What changes is man's perception as his spiritual senses become more refined.<\/p>\n

The only true object of spiritual feeling is the Creator. The level of man's perception of the Creator determines the extent to which he is spiritually revealed. The more man adjusts his inner desires to resemble the qualities of the Creator, the more he experiences the spiritual world. At the highest level - called the World of Infinity - man perceives the Creator completely, without any limitations, because he has completely transformed himself to be like him.<\/p>\n

<\/h3>\n

The material in the spiritual world<\/strong><\/h3>\n

In the spiritual world, the \"material\" refers to our inner desires. Our ego-driven desires are considered the \"material\" of our world, and as we correct these desires to become more altruistic, we move closer to the spiritual world. The higher the spiritual level, the finer the material becomes.<\/p>\n

The Kabbalah says that everything that exists is light<\/strong> (which represents the Creator), wish<\/strong> (which is creation) and The screen<\/strong>, a tool that helps creation reflect the light to be more like the Creator. The \"screen\" is what allows us to filter and perceive spiritual reality.<\/p>\n

The spiritual worlds are like layers of the same reality. Each lower world is a reflection or imprint of the higher. Everything that exists in the higher world exists in the lower, only in a less refined or more physical form.<\/p>\n

We do not perceive the Creator directly; rather, we sense the degree to which our own qualities match those of the Creator. This is similar to the way a radio receiver picks up frequencies. The receiver must be tuned to the correct frequency to pick up a signal, and it actually perceives the signal by resonating with it. Similarly, our spiritual senses perceive the Creator to the degree that we resemble Him.<\/p>\n

Spiritual perception works in a similar way. We can feel the Creator only to the extent that our spiritual \"screen\" is developed. The more we adjust ourselves to reflect the Creator's qualities, the more we can sense His presence. The image of the Creator we perceive is essentially a reflection of the degree to which we have spiritually corrected ourselves.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Roots and branches<\/strong><\/h3>\n

There is a principle in Kabbalah that everything in our lower, material world has a corresponding root in the spiritual world. This connection \"root and branch\" means that every detail we see in our world is a reflection of something in the Higher World.<\/strong><\/em> By studying this correspondence Kabbalists can understand the spiritual forces at play behind physical events.<\/p>\n

To summarize, although language struggles to capture the essence of the spiritual world, Kabbalah provides a framework for understanding the relationship between our material reality and the spiritual realms. Through spiritual growth and refinement of our perception, we can ultimately experience the Higher World directly, bypassing the limitations of words.<\/p>\n
